TPD Compliance
The Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) is a new set of rules and regulations that took effect in the United Kingdom and the European Union in May 2016. The TPD provides specific legislation in the United Kingdom and the European Union for the sale and manufacture of e-cigarettes and e-liquids. A vaping product must be completely compatible with the TPD before it can be sold in the UK or the EU.
The TPD's mission is to improve safety and educate people about the dangers of purchasing nicotine-containing products. The TPD further emphasises the necessity of e-cigarette and vaping products being purchased by people over the age of 18.
What does this all mean?
- Because smaller companies may be unable to achieve these new, stringent regulations, the market may see fewer e-liquid flavours and devices.

- The maximum liquid capacity of each cartridge, pod system, and tank will be 2ML.
- Overseas sales will be restricted but not prohibited throughout Europe..
- If three member countries vote that e-cigarettes are a dangerous product, the EU has the authority to prohibit them entirely on their territory.
